Field Calendar
Taking care of the coffee is a year round job; every month and every period has its own activity. Everyday of the year hundreds of employees under the supervision of family engineers, are in charge of supervising and investigating the chores that are carried out every day on every plantation.
FEBRUARY
February is for pruning and renewal. The pruning is done to eliminate all those branches of the coffee plant that are damaged, tree giving the plant more strength to start a new cycle. The renewal is basically the substitution of damaged plants for new ones.

MARCH
Application of corrective modifications: calcium carbonate, dolomite lime, chicken droppings, coffee scrubs, composite earthworms, and others.

APRIL
The soils are prepared for renewal. The month of April, when the first rains of the year fall and the coffee plants begin to bloom, turns into one of the most colorful months because of the aroma of the coffee flower and other aromas of the area. At this moment the bean begins to prepare itself and, like a pregnant woman, will take nine months to see its precious fruit.

MAY
With the rains comes the fertilization to replace the minerals in the soil; also, spraying for the lacking foliage and last the elimination of weeds that come up to compete with the plant to obtain the micro elements.

JUNE
The new plants are planted and at the same time organic material is applied to improve the new roots of the plant.

JULY
The soil is fertilized again; the new leaves of the plants will be protected by applying another spraying to help the formation of the fruit.

AUGUST
The plants are checked for outbreaks of diseases caused by the extreme humidity of the soil after the rain. Diseases such as: South America leaf spot, orange or leaf rust, Brown leaf spot and Brown eye spotand others.

SEPTEMBER
The high production and pruned areas are reinforced with fertilizers and the new plants are fertilized.

OCTOBER
Theseeding begins, this is the recollection of the first beans on small scale, as well as the application of nitrogenous fertilizers for the plant growth during summer.

NOVEMBER-DECEMBER-JANUARY
The most colorful, aromatic, productive and much awaited season of the year: the picking of the beans. During this period the color changes are noticeable, from green to orange and orange to intense red until it reaches the maximum point of ripeness of the coffee bean.
