Coffee Bean: San Pol
The SANPOL seed comes to life in the face of the need of the coffee grower to have a seed that contains high purity, a stronger productive potential and great longevity.
The SANPOL seed is certified by the OFICINA NACIONAL DE SEMILLAS de Costa Rica (National Department of Seeds of Costa Rica). In this office, the seeds go through several selection processes and analyses to be endorsed and certified by this institution.
The commercial varieties that SANPOL produces and distributes are: CATURRA and CATUAI.
The distribution system is in polypropilene sacks which come in presentations of 5, 10 and 20 kg of seed respectively.
The prices of the seed are:

The shipping system is by air, as the seed is affected by prolonged changes of temperature and humidity, which is why its transportation must be quick to maintain it in the adequate environmental conditions so its germinative vigor is not affected.
Once it has been prepared, the coffee seed must be kept in warehouses at temperatures of 18ºC with a relative humidity of 40%; the germination percentage is drastically affected if a forced air cooling system is used, as it dehydrates and burns the embryo.
In adequate conditions the longevity of the seed is seven months after the harvest. This guarantees a germination percentage of over 90%. After that it loses its vigor gradually until it reaches 12 months, when the germination percentage is 75%.
For the seed that remains in storage for a long period, it is recommended to use natural bioactivators that distinctly increase the germination percentage, reaching levels of 90% according to the product and submersion time of the seed.
