A HISTORY OF COFFEE IN COSTA RICA

1791 First coffee seeds come to Costa Rica.

1820 First export of coffee to Panama.

1832 Costa Rica exports coffee to England via Chile.

1845 First direct export from Costa Rica to London.

1929 Start of the great Depression, Clarindo Vargas moved out of commerce and, into agriculture.

1949 Don Clarindo starts his first coffee farm in San Isidro, Alajuela.

1959 The Founding of the Santa Eduviges coffee consortium.

1962 First export of all family grown coffee under the brand of "Tambor de Poas.

1996 Three Generations roasted coffee is launched into the marketplace.

1997 The Company's first coffee shop opens.

1998 The family opens a bed and breakfast called "Ever green hotel".

1999 The family opened the farm to tourism and started the coffee tour.

2000 The fruits of 52 years of work yield the famous trophy of best coffee in the region from the Sinter café symposium.
